GMC timing gear mod.
The factory fitted camshaft timing gear on these Chev. and GMC engines was made from a moulded fibre material, the gear isn't strong , the teeth fail. A replacement aftermarket Aluminium gear is available and is a worthwhile modification for reliability. Early Holden cars here suffered from the same issue. At the Corowa event some years ago, a GMC CCKW, it's timing gear broke apart.
