Default CMP Winch

While flipping through the lighting pages of volume 4 of the AEDB Design Record I found this photo showing a front mounted winch on a CMP. I knew of the mid-frame mount and the body mounted winches for wreckers, derricks and signals construction trucks but hadn't seen this version before. There is no mention of this setup in the section on winches in the same volume so I'm puzzled.

At first glance it seems to be on a Chevrolet. With the drive looking as if it is on the left hand side, I wonder if this might have been a method to mount a winch on the C60X using the PTO opening in the transmission case to replace the normal winch PTO point on the transfer case that is used for the rear drive on the C60X? A setup such as this could also have been set up to allow use with the truck's wheels driven.

Does anyone have better information they can point me toward?
