Howard your truck may not have been a L of C unit truck but a 'Corps' truck with the white bar.

Below is a scan from Stephen Talberts Formation sign book showing the different set ups for the Unit Signs.

Default bank light

You can also try one of those ultra violet lights that banks use to check your signature .

This is the faded tac sign on my Morris .. seems to be a red background with 2 numbers .. I think . The car was in the Middle East, any clues there .. what AIF units had a red tac sign

I will try Mike's UV light trick when I get back from Holidays.
