Default engine colour

I have just been on a web site called "The Ford Flathead v8 Site" in the "engine specifications", "the middle years", at the bottom of the page, it says; "Original paint colours."
Ford and Mercury through 1940 were dark green.
Ford continued the colour until 1942
Mercury used a dark blue colour from 1941 through to 1948
Post war war Ford were dark blue to 1948.
Ford truck engines were generally the same as cars.
My observations;
There is no mention of Ford colour from 1942.
There was obviously some variations in truck engine colour.
There are no specific comments about military engines.

The picture below shows engine cover off for service/repairs in the field, note the engine block has the same colour as the vehicle. Ancillaries are black.

PS: I merged several related threads on this subject.
