Can I humbly suggest that the U.K had no CMP's before Dunkirk, the withdrawal from the beaches taking a week, from 26th may 1940, and all gone by the 1st june 1940.
according to my book they left behind; 2,472 guns,63,879 vehicles,20,548 motorcycles,76,097 tons of ammo. 68000 men were killed injured or taken prisoner, and 40,000 were captured when Dunkirk fell The book is called" the Sands of Dunkirk, by Richard Collier.

Very few film productions in the Toronto, Ontario area have featured carriers with three exceptions where I supplied military picture vehicles. For some reason the carrier just doesn't catch the fancy of directors.
1989 Firing Squad fleeting glimpses of a carrier. But good action shots of a Chev C15A fording a river. 1993 Dieppe - a CBC mini series has fleeting glimpses of a carrier. The difficulty in Canada was to find appropriate vehicles so we had to use mostly Cab 13 CMP's. Keep an eye out for a nice Ford Lynx if you see this mini series. 2005 Land of the Dead - George Romero directing. As Dave mentioned a carrier that he eventually acquired was used a part of a compound of derelict military vehicles. ......... Brian |

and yet the carrier was an iconic AFV of ww2 (for commonwealth forces) its wierd that you dont see them... there is a scene on the longest day when a Mk2 carrier breaks down on the sand, and the beach master gives the glacis plate a good whack and gets it going again.....other than this movie and a bridge too far i have not seen anymore on the silver screen. i maintain that HBO or someone could do some awesome stories perhaps involving the desert rats or one of the many carrier platoons during ww2 as i have no doubt there were many harrowing, exciting, full throttle moments to be told
