Thinking about it - some Federal/Trailmobile combinations in the Middle East had a 15cwt body fitted at the front of the trailer [as a storage box] - so where did all the spaare 15cwt bodies come from; were they left over from some conversion of the 15cwt or were they taken from stock leaving a number of chasis/cab units which were then used for what?/ - sort of a chicken and egg question.
How many of those Matadors and Federal/Trailmobiles were converted? I think those cargo boxes simply came from wrecked CMP 15-cwt trucks, or were left-overs from rebuild programmes.

I'm only guessing but I would say only one , the Hyster mobile crane with its wheeled base would be a valuable asset itself ,so its all a bitza.

Just checked in Recovery by Brian Baxter where he says "...a run of AEC Matadors fitted with jibs talen from American built Hyster workshop cranes, one of these remaining in service into the 1950s in Sudan."

Shall we start another thread on how many Matadors constitutes a "run" : :

Default F8

Love those F8s, especially the one with the Fortress nose.

The Korea one will be a C60X.

Keith,
Both F8 photos are of the same vehicle, you can see the nose cone in the top photo as well.

Thanks Les,

It's a bit small but in the background I can see rare soft-topped 3-tonners, and on the right an Indian Pattern 15-cwt GS truck, which leads me to believe this picture was taken in the South East Asian theatre of war?

H.
