No Jordan. The hull drain is through another purpose made round hole. I've also often wondered what the square hole is for. I need to remove my Bren tripod and get directly over it and see what it might line up with, say on the gearbox??? Ron

Did I read somewhere they are made of brass and copper to help with radio suppression?

I think only the later carriers had the water drain handle up the top, not MkI universals, which I think this grill is off (TL12123) Has anyone got a spare handle like the one on Richard's engine cover?

Having had a look, it is definately all copper (mesh as well). You probably couldn't fold sheet brass like that without it breaking.

I just took my bren tripod off to get a better picture. I still can't work out what the square hole is for. But you can clearly see the part number on the mesh panel. Ron
