Ford 1940 (see the 'V/8' stamped in the bonnet?) 15cwt. Spare is on the wrong side for the 1 ton (Model 01Y) and the body too short, so I think its the 15cwt.

What does the number plate say? '?2961': is it a 'V' or a 'C' at the start?

Mike Kelly care to comment, as you are pretty good with the Ford/Chev 12-15cwt models?

Hi there

Yes I had a look. First thing I noticed is: the doors have single piece glass . This is a Nth. American style cab , not Ford Aust. The Geelong cabs used the quarter windows in the doors , a unique fitting I believe .

I have previously spotted Sth African forces utes , that are outwardly similar to the Aussie vehicles . Just a guess, but that vehicle pictured may have been a African assembled Ford with local pickup bodywork on it .

Hi there!

Well there are a few other features that indicates it is not of Australian origin:-

*door ribs, Aust 40~41 Ford had 3
*spare tyre, Aust Ford Ute had it mounted on the left hand side. (tool box mtd on the right hand side)

The attached photos the 1st with the guy is a Aust 1940 Ford and the 2nd with the woman is a Aust 1941 example.

Niels, the Fords from the US websites are not V3000, they are 1940-42 Fords US manufactured, German units call them V3000 to make them German.. they are 100% US, with the split windcreeen. The Ford in the picture is a 1/2 ton Ford with a different back. Pics of my 1/2 ton Ford.
