Default Hmm

Well, if it came from the army like that it might be a good candidate for restoration exactly as it is, 'wrong' body and all.

No arguing with that paintjob, is there?

Kevin,

I don't think you're missing out on much here. The current bid stands at £1,320.00, about right for the useful spares it might yield me thinks. . .

GOOD HOME WANTED FOR RETIRED FILM STAR !!!
HUE 706
This is a rigid four - wheel drive army truck that featured with John Lennon in ' How We Won The War' ...
This Second World war vehicle was manufactured in Canada and shipped to the U.K for assembly in 1942.
The vehicle saw service in the North African Desert Campaign and was later used as a farm vehicle whence it enjoyed a brief film history ...
In the 1950's the truck was fitted with a four-litre Ford 4D diesel engine.. then in roughly 1994 it underwent further restoration by one of the previous owners but since then it has been laid up ..
This was one of the first ford trucks with hydraulic brakes ..
MOT & TAX EXEMPT
We have the log book for the truck .. a hand written letter about its history from a previous owner and a newspaper cutting with picture from the 'Diss Express' from when it was sold at auction in March 1997..
Since it was sold at auction it has not moved very far and of course has deteriorated slightly .. But it would not take too much to restore her to her former beauty ..
Her two front tyres are flat .. but we do have spares ( as you can see in the back ) ..
The bonnet for the engine is in the back ..
It also needs a battery .. but .. its a goer !! She still runs !! ..
Great for any ex military vehicle enthusiast or ' John Lennon ' / ' Beatles ' memorabilia fan .. ( or a bit of both !! )
I have been also informed that the number plate alone is worth quite a bit, but have never wanted to separate it from the vehicle ..
Reluctant sale .. as moving house .. CASH ON COLLECTION PLEASE .. COLLECTION FROM NEAR THETFORD IN NORFOLK

It reminds me smthing but I don't know what...

Very rare WW2 Chevrolet 17pr gun tractor. I believe that only 8 of these were built in 1944, being converted from the 2pr portee that was by then obsolete.Originally built in 1941.
The conversion involved removing the tilting body and fitting a fixed one and also fitting the chassis mounted PTO winch as fitted to other Chev Gun tractors. there are very few references on the net to this type of truck the nearest I can find is in Australia.
85% restored all the woodwork is new,all the chassis and running gear have been cleaned and painted engine rebuilt, new 12 X 20 tyres, completely rewired, new canvas. The engine starts and ticks over but needs a tune up as it runs rough. The brakes will need overhauling.
