Default I have taken them apart.....

....but not as gently. Working on M 37 years ago with a lot of these lamps available we used a grinder..... we had hopes of using 2 of them as driving lights ....... we never intended to put them back together again......

As extra driving lights mounted inside the grill they were nearly useless..... more like a glaring short broad beam.... they were quickly removed and replaced by proper driving lights....amazing how important the lens pattern is to control and direct light on the road.

Live and learn.
