Col,
The Australian Army did procure a very small number of M123C 6x6 tractors (Truck, Tractor, 10 ton, GS (USA)) in the early 1960s. The M123C was powered by a Le Roi Company 297HP V8 petrol engine of 844 CI displacement. They were equipped with a US-sourced semi-trailer for carrying engineer plant, the designation of which escapes me at the moment. The three models: M123, M123C and M125 (this is the cargo truck version) were all powered by the Le Roi petrol engine, while the M123A1C and M123E2 were powered by the Cummins V8 diesel. Australia also hired two M123 series tractors (various models were provided at different times) and M15A2 tank transporter trailers from US sources in Vietnam, for plant and tank transport. They were returned to the US Army in 1971. Regards Mike C |
