I have recently run across a number of Dutch vehicle photo sites that amongst other things have photos of ex CMP and other US and Canadian vehicles in use post 1945.
Awesome Bill! That first CMP shows "Hillegom" on top of the cab. Hanno's hometown! The picture was taken right next to Haarlem trainstation, around the corner where I used to live! "Spoorzicht" is now a Chinese restaurant.

Look at the wheels on the F60....duals at the rear and reversed wheels up front. I have seen this on another Haarlem CMP pic before; maybe the same truck.

At first I also thought this to be a retrofitted US body, but some details like the round holes in the lid pointed towards British or Canadian lighting. Obviously that could also have been done post-war. A buddy recently told me that the owner convinced him it was originally a Canadian Stores body. So after another look at the truck and the Servicepub CD-rom I have to agree....it's a Canadian Stores body with some slight modifications!

Hi Alex:

Glad you enjoyed the pics.

Given the size of these archives, I realize I won't live long enough to go through all of them and pick and choose what I think might be interesting.

So, go here for the info on the license plate series.

https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp...pw.r_qf.&cad=b

And here for over 20K images and links to other similar sites.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4222007...oto_6062058715

Note that each photo may include links to similar photos. A Benz station wagon may also be featured in a Flickr Photostream
dealing with "European station wagons" and so on.

Probably well over 100K images at least even if there is a lot of duplication.

Hope you have lots of time.

Cheers
Bill

Bill, Alex,

What ho! I hadn't spotted that detail yet! I know the spot it was pictured also as my loved one used to live near there.

Re. those wheels, it looks like the LH front is a reversed rim while the RH rim is standard. Those were the days before mandatory yearly technical checks!

Thanks,
Hanno

Totally off topic, but I thought you Hollanders might enjoy this pic I clipped off of one of the sites I mentioned. Sorry for the double post, the pic didn't attach the first time.
