Hanno,
I just had a look and indeed it's one and the same truck (pictures attached); the location and size of the bridge plate, the non-original (?) bumper and latch on the engine lid gives it away. This truck has found a new home in Holland....actually not too far from you and me. It has had a repaint and has been renumbered. I had a look at the truck recently and it is in very nice condition. By the way did the canadian army in ETO ever used 4x2 trucks ? The CZ42 number is pure fantasy .
By what I figured out with Bart Vanderveen all the 4x2 contracts were for the British army , numbers started all with Z444.. Does anybody have wartime oictures of 4x2`s in Canadian service? |

An ex-RNLAF F60L has turned up in Belgium, identified by the red-white-blue-orange-dot roundel on the left-hand front cowl.
The last picture shows an early post-war picture of "Luchtstrijdkrachten (LSK)" vehicles. Next to the roundel on the left side, the F15A has "LSK 324" on the right side of the cowl. Has anyone found these types of markings on their CMP? Thanks, Hanno

Could that F60L be one of a batch of F60L's which were assembled by NV Nederlandsche Ford Automobiel Fabriek in Amsterdam early after WW2? Reportedly these were late production crated vehicles. Hanno

Interesting find! I guess the truck spent a fair amount of it's life in Belgium after demob from the Dutch Air force. I seems to show the typical Belgian headlight relocation...closed up normal position of the headlights and the holes in the bumper for replacement headlights (?)

On April 10th there was a remembrance-rally at Wilp for Operation Cannonshot.
Special feature were CMP and British vehicles. At one moment a line-up was formed with the vehicles. Note: not all CMP's were at this line-up. Enjoy this line-up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-ijIT-t4yg Cheers Arjan

As noted by Alex, this C60S Cab 12 recently popped up for sale. I had not seen it before in Holland, so I post it up here. You never know what's hiding in the barn! Note the CMP 15-cwt hiding in the background of pic 2.
The C60S had "CMD 60476" painted on the hood. H.

As the inside of the cab is painted red, I thought this F15A could have served as a fire fighting vehicle, either while in RNLAF service or after. However, on this site I found a ca. 1948 picture of an "Ford F15L Manschappen-slangenwagen" (personnell and hose truck) at Air Force Base Leeuwarden. It seems the interesting array of vehicles are any shade of green, but red! H.

Nice pic of F60L in Dutch Army service, most likely in Indonesia shortly after WW2.
Body looks like an Indian Pattern wooden one? And who said CMPs never rode on 12:00-20 bar grips?!?! H.

Somewhere near Dalfsen, the Netherlands. Trucks no longer loved or wanted, waiting for the rust to take its toll. . . . .
Sad!

I have recently run across a number of Dutch vehicle photo sites that amongst other things have photos of ex CMP and other US and Canadian vehicles in use post 1945.
As I have time, I will post some of them in this thread. Edit: So sorry, Hanno, I was too lazy to do a search. The Registration/License Plate sites are a hoot and there are several more with upwards of 20,000 images. Driving me crazy with all the prewar US car/truck photos, a great love of mine. Cheers Bill

Look at the wheels on the F60....duals at the rear and reversed wheels up front. I have seen this on another Haarlem CMP pic before; maybe the same truck. Alex

At first I also thought this to be a retrofitted US body, but some details like the round holes in the lid pointed towards British or Canadian lighting. Obviously that could also have been done post-war. A buddy recently told me that the owner convinced him it was originally a Canadian Stores body. So after another look at the truck and the Servicepub CD-rom I have to agree....it's a Canadian Stores body with some slight modifications! Alex

Hi Alex:
Glad you enjoyed the pics. Given the size of these archives, I realize I won't live long enough to go through all of them and pick and choose what I think might be interesting. So, go here for the info on the license plate series. https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp...pw.r_qf.&cad=b And here for over 20K images and links to other similar sites. http://www.flickr.com/photos/4222007...oto_6062058715 Note that each photo may include links to similar photos. A Benz station wagon may also be featured in a Flickr Photostream dealing with "European station wagons" and so on. Probably well over 100K images at least even if there is a lot of duplication. Hope you have lots of time. Cheers Bill

What ho! I hadn't spotted that detail yet! I know the spot it was pictured also as my loved one used to live near there. Re. those wheels, it looks like the LH front is a reversed rim while the RH rim is standard. Those were the days before mandatory yearly technical checks! Thanks, Hanno

Totally off topic, but I thought you Hollanders might enjoy this pic I clipped off of one of the sites I mentioned. Sorry for the double post, the pic didn't attach the first time.
