Hello.
I haven't been a part of this forum for some time and a CGN member reminded me of MLU. The Iltisforum is no longer around. Didn't surprise me that it went, as participation was almost nil. I started it so that owners, Canadian mainly, could participate on more "modern" style forum, rather than a running Email thread. It was also nice having a Tapatalk accessible forum too. I guess I stepped on some influential Iltis toes! ![]() I moved on to another MV and while members helped keep it running for one extension, I wasn't going to pay for it myself and no one could keep it up. The domain name iltisforum.com is available of anyone wants it.

Hi all that will read this late post ,
Given , the Iltis is not such a great vehicle. It is definetly underpowered and hard to get in and out of for a 6' 1' guy like me... BUT, it is a representative artifact of the SERVICE of many, many of our fellow servicemen and women in often difficult and FORGOTTEN theatres of WAR... Many lost their lives or health and are still losing their lives by suicide in those theatres of other people's wars .REMEMBER Yougoslavia, Croatia, Bosnia , Cyprus, Golan and Lebanon. REMEMBER the direct artillery hit on a UN Observation post in No Man's LAND BETWEEN Israel and Lebanon WHERE ONE OF OUR FINEST , a canadian major whose call-sign was '' Wolf '' got blown to pièces from a well placed artillery 155mm shell . His day to day driver during his carear was an Iltis ... I bought an Iltis in REMEMBRANCE of guys like Wolf . That is also why i am going to drive it to the local Cenotaph on Nov 11 and cry with the forgotten survivors of forgetten places and forgotten wars. Did i mention Rwanda, Haiti and Afhganistan ? Anyway, many are continuing to suffer from what they have seen from the point of view offered from the Iltis. Great visibility from that truck, indeed..... We shall remember them. ![]() Bob

Sorry boys. I love my Iltis. I like to show it as a tribute to all of the UN troops who have served Canada.

The aircraft you are standing in front of ( Buffalo ) is similar to the one blown to pieces with its canadian crew by the Syrians ( 1974 ) in another forgotten war the canadians were involved in... Nice picture. How was the airshow season this year ? Bob

Please note that the aircraft is a CC115 Buffalo and it was on a UN mission when shot down by the Syrians on 9 August, 1974, and not by the Egyptians. All nine CF personnel on board were killed.

Aside from our favorite Merrick Ville group, is there another site which has the download-able TM's for the ILTIS?
Or at least the correct TM # which I can go looking for. We have a new owner, who is driving my mechanic nuts. When I had my conversion course, I had to return my Pubs and Pams. Now that the horrid thing has been removed from service, I still get asked about it. Yes, I was issued several, but it was a long time ago. I always hated that politically motivated machine, but I'm trying to help a really good friend. |

militarytrucks.ca is a great site for canadian military publications.
Free and available TM's for collectors and restorers alike.

Right on Stuart !
Haiti and Afghanistan you are so very right. Wolf got nice coverage in that well documented article in Legion magazine last year. To visit his memorial you need special permission from the local authorities because it is in their lines in no man's land with the country next door. Fat chance we could get access with the situation now ? That memorial would be i think the least visited canadian war memorial on planet earth. Flanders, France, Holland , Belgium ,Germany Italy, Hong Kong would all be quite easily accessible . Why , tell me why the responsible country never apologised for bombing that UN post and killing Wolf ? Official Answer : Opponents were using the post as a shield for their operations. We hear that response even today in the current conflict when schools, hospitals etc. are targetted...
