Am I correct in assuming all Cab 12 portees found in Australia are ex-ME vehicles? Or did we receive some new deliveries earlier?

Default Gmh

Hi

There is a pic of a cab 12 portee on page 146 , in The history of Holden book by Norm Darwin .

Looks like a pic taken at GMH plant somewhere. Not sure if this vehicle was ex ME ?

Anyway, years ago I met a chap who was a driver in the AIF, he was a ham radio operator too. We chatted about vehicles and he said among many things, he drove 2 pounder portees from GMH Fishermeans bend up to Puckapunyal . His parents house was in Falkner and he stopped at home to show off the truck to everyone .

He was in the ME and mentioned he rode captured ALCI ( pronounced AL CHEE ) or similar Italian motorbikes , he said he loved them . I had my copy of observers book with me . Nice old bloke he was Mike

Thanks for the photos lads they look great.

Took the wife and little ones to the Royal Adelaide Show to spend a a little family time together on Father's Day.(Spent much a weekend on the resto so i thought it would be the right thing to do)

We saw cattle, wood chopping, show bags, snakes, fireworks and so much more..

Now if this is not a sign from above that i should be working on my truck instead of pushing through thousands of people for over six hours i don't know what is

Default The Kruse Cab 12

That truck was rebuilt as a 'replica' of the one in the movie "The Back of Beyond".

It has a few modifications including an extended steering column. Not sure what the black thing is. It wasn't there when I last saw it in Alice Springs. That truck sure gets around!

It belongs to Brenton (I think) Kruse, one of Tom Kruse's grand nephews. He lives in Waterloo, S.A.

That was on the way back from the function at the National Road Transport Hall of Fame.
