Can't speak to other vehicles but I have had both FV432's...petrol and diesel, the diesels were pigs...slow, noisy and smelly, the gassers run circles around them, and the sound of a straight 8...priceless...now if you are too lazy to change a spark plug or keep the fuel system clean then diesel is the way to go...until the governor runs low on oil and the motor runs away 'til it grenades...and good luck starting one in the winter unless it lives inside

For me it wasn't the sound of the engine....it was the sound of the cooling fans when the hydraulics kicked in. Man did they whine.

Still prefer the M113A1 over the FV432 series.
But that is personal preference. |
