Exclamation Looking for B81 engine for FV432 MkI

Hello all,

As far as I know, the Brits are the only country that use the FV432. I'm not sure if the British train in Canada or out-source parts from there for their vehicles? What I'm looking for is refurbished petrol B81 engines or complete power packs that might be available in Canada. I live in NY and shipping for anything from the UK is painful.

Thank you for any leads or info!

John

These powerpacks used to be everywhere out west here about a decade or so back. But they have since dried up. I had a spare or two to go with my FV432 back in the day, and was a handy method of making sure you had one spare of everything (starter, junction box, oil sending unit, etc). It seems to me I bought very good condition take out packs for around $300 when I was still in Saskatchewan.

Thank you for the kind replies. I'm sure the days of $300.00 take out 432 engines have passed me by! Why were there so many in Canada?

British Army Training Establishment Suffield (BATUS) in Alberta had loads of the gasoline FV432s in service. Around 95, they started disposing of them. Most went to the scrapyard in Regina, a smaller batch were sold on the condition they be scrapped, and they weren't. There was a trailer load of power packs included in the second batch I mentioned. These ones were sold to anyone with the cash. Complete 432s varied from $1800 to $5000.
Many others went to various ranges as targets, and the power plants were pulled before the hulls were filled with cement. These plants also were around.

I had the opportunity to slavage parts off the ones in the Regina scrapyard. The price was something like 10 cents a pound for whatever we took.
