Hi
You got what looks to be the dream truck complete, good condition, and original, paint. Any evidence of something having been painted on the doors? My Pattern 13 C60S came out of France in the 1980s and Stenciled on the doors was: NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION TO THE FRENCH ARMY FROM THE CANADIAN ARMY Yours is a wonderful find. Cheers Phil

Hello
Yes it's an Nice truck ![]() Nothing writen on the door But the atlantik treaty is called OTAN in france an the truck is equiped with the OTAN lights and trailer spoket, OTAN begins in 1949 and standardize some equipements on the vehicles . The two headlights from the truck are marked "export" so I think the truck was built for the right side driving. many small thinks are différent on the truck like the ""dog house" the front doors ... Is it due to the late version of the truck? Best regards Sylvain Last edited by Harlé Sylvain; 13-08-15 at 17:54. |

Yes, cut out and cover top of the dog house for the deep water fording kit.
Unpainted area on door, lubrication chart location. Spring and mounting point on the back of the cab is spring tension for the roof cover pull cords so that it could be kept just tight enough to open or close the canvas cover. Funny cut mark on step, I have heard this explained as being a way to use up scrap floor plate from cutting the cabs floor. There is even an explanation for where the two sections come from the scrap of cutting the floor. Now I'll go watch your first drive video. Cheers Phil Just watch that video and the video in the cab when starting, who is in the cab with you they sound excited that it started.

Thank you phil for your help!
I hunderstand now for the canvas roof ![]() Funny for the step boards, all the steel peaces used to be used! certainly due to the steel missing at the end of the war. Does an picture of the lub chart exist? I have this marks on the two doors was this plate each side?. What do you think about the APT type marqued on is type plate on the dash board? My wife is filming me, and my eight years old daugter is in the cab with me , and we were all happy that the new "baby" starts! ![]() Best regards Sylvain |

I don't have answers to all of your questions but may be able to help.
Yes, there was an Airportable variant of the 60 cwt lorry. The curved cut in the step is something I have seen on other trucks but I do not know why it was done, except possibly to use pieces of metal that would otherwise be scrap. The curve on the steps I have seen are all similar so it must have been a planned thing rather than just using any old pieces of scrap that they had. I'm quite sure the spring, bracket and tie strap are to provide tension to keep the cover in place over the observation hole in the roof and also permit it to be removed quickly when needed without loss. I had not seen the depressions in the door on larger trucks but have seen a late production HUP with lubrication information on a plate in one door (and I think a wiring diagram in the other). There has been discussion of the engine cover differences before with people saying they believed the version you show is to allow for the wading equipment. MLU encourages users to include their pictures as part of the posting rather than relying on picture hosting sites. Several hosting sites have ceased operation resulting in the pictures no longer being visible. Instructions on posting are found here: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19 On edit: I am at work, started to answer befor Phil's reply but had to pause to do some work. At least Phil's and my answers don't disagree badly. Last edited by Grant Bowker; 14-08-15 at 23:21. |
