Does any one have information on the use of the above tool.
I have had it for years but now need to know how to use it. Photo to follow. I fell onto one on ebay that closed today at $250.00 It is the same number as mine, but the body is slightly different.

With the little adapter, that I found somewhere else, at a different time, I think it can be used for the early distributor

Lynn, I have an instructional manual for same, I can copy and send to you if you like. I have two of these fixtures.
I believe that the adapter fitting you have is the cam spacer which is required on early model flatheads running later model dizzys or vice versa (can't recall which is which at the moment...) |

Lynn.
I think the Ford CMP Maintenance Manuals also have a section explaining how it is used as well. David |

Hi Chris, I have since worked out that the machine adjusts for the height difference between the two types of dizzy.
Yes please a copy would be great. Electronic is fine. Thank you. David, there is a little bit in one of my manuals, but not much.

I have a Ford manual (SE170) titled "Distributor Timing Fixture X12127D..Operating Instructions". It is a total of 9 pages and covers all of the various distibutors that can be adjusted with the fixture. I have both the fixture and manual courtesy of Gord Falk who has loaned them to me on a semi-permanent basis.
Perhaps I should scan them and post them here. |

Hi Lynn,
John Stevenson at Omokoroa has one that has the instructions on a plate on it. I borrowed it to do my distributor. Pages R-26 through R-28 in MB-F1 explains how it works also. I can loan you my book if you don't have one. Make sure you get a good set of points. Both my points cracked the arms after a couple of hours running which upset the timing. Ken Hughes from Dunedin was kind enough to send me a pair of genuine NOS ones. Cheers, Terry

This link leads to the Ford barn.....post # 5 has a copy of a manual for the timing fixture.
You'll have to join up, but that's only fair as it's their document. Lots of good info there, regardless. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67917&

Charlie,
Thanks very much for the link to the Ford Barn and the forum discussion on the Wasco Timing Tool instructions. I was registered IN UNDER 10 MINUTES and was able to download the .pdf file. It is a much more thorough explanation on how to use the fixture than the Ford MB-F1 manual, page R-27 & R-28. Cheers,

The original Ford MB-F1 is poor, both for instructions using the fixture and especially without it...
Flathead distributors are tenacious items and having your timing set correctly with a fixture is truly only the way to do it properly. Many guys also look at other reasons why they think their flathead runs poorly. 9 times out of 10 it is an inproperly set up distributor and/or defective ignition coil. |

Several years ago i posted about syncronising ford SV V8 disy's, i think on a threar by wilanthry.
in Australia there were some aftermarket point sets that were difficult to syncronise. you had to alter the point gap to get the total dwell right. On the model shown the disc raises and lowers to accomadate both late and early disys.

Fellows
Just googled servex distributor timing fixture and it has led me to this thread. Has anyone got the instructions on how to use one. Like Lynn I was fortunate enough to find a good one at a swap meet. Would be handy to know how to use it properly.
