Looking at the angle of climb I'd say it's likely a Boomerang or Wirraway from the CAC factory, the Beaufort wasn't quite as nippy.
Imagine the sound of all those flatheads and whining gears in the massed scenes with carriers, Dingoes and Rovers! Be fun to have the time to add sound effects to the clip.

I read an article somewhere about the Australian Sentinal Tank series some years ago. Quite an impressive machine. One piece cast hull, as I recall.
Anyone know if the ACIII with the twin 25-pdr turret, or the 17-pdr ACIV survived anywhere? David |

Both the twin 25-pdr and 17-pdr were assembled onto existing 'E' series hulls - the three tanks the AFV Workshops used for experimentation.
The prototype AC3, serial 8066, with (single) 25pdr is held in storage at the AWM in Canberra, and is visible at the storage facility open day(s) each year. The AC4 never actually existed beyond the experimental 17-pdr mounting on an E series hull. Mike |
