Default Radiator brakets

Hi Jim,

That's got quite a few of us stumped based on the number of views and lack of replies.

I haven't seen that on my Australian assembled F-15A anywhere however that doesn't mean it was never fitted, or maybe only fitted to Canadian built vehicles.
Annoying little bits often get removed and thrown behind the chicken coop over the years. Restoration is often about finding those annoying little bits again (passenger seat floor grab handle for example)

The 1943 15 CWT 4 x 4 Parts List doesn't show anything in the radiator diagram nor does it appear in the list. Again it could have been a later fitment deemed necessary from in-field experience. It seems well made and finished so it seems to be something more than bush engineering.

That said, however, my only guess is if you lack the shroud from the grill to the radiator this is a bracket to support the top of the radiator used in its place.
Without the shroud, there is nothing to support the radiator from forward movement. There is a hole in the radiator upper to lower tank side supports to which this could be attached.

If you have the shroud then this throws my theory completely out!

Hope someone else can shed some light on it as it has got me curious too.

All the best,
