Hot spanners. The pin which appeared to have a flange on one end was infact a red herring ! Some heat on the lugs and a press saw it realeased from its rusty tomb. I established it was merely a straight pin press fitted into the lugs, at which point the split pin retains it, just need a cleanup and a new spring and we are good to go now

Mine appears to have a 'drive pin' rather than a split pin? Ron

Interesting. I presumed split pin only as the remains appeared to be in two halves. I think I may be machining up a drive pin !

Does anyone have any details on the spring ? Length etc ? What was left of mine I could not get any accurate data.

Default Tow Hook

I have had a lot to do with rust and the best thing that I have ever used is Acetone and Automatic oil 50-50 and it works fast
