Does anyone have NOS seals for the British steering box, or has anyone had any made and has spares?
(Bishop make)

Hi Lynn, what is special about them, have you got some measurements to explain?
Cheers Andrew

I think they are cork seals.

Andrew it has a felt seal . I hand cut a replacement, but it still leaks. I wonder if it should have been leather?
I didn't record the measurements. It's the worm seal behind the steering wheel. It's held in by the steel washer- not the best set up I've ever seen.

according to the workshop manual it is a cork seal and that matches Bishop steering boxes on lorries of the period that I've worked on, where the sector shaft comes out of the casing.

Mine leaks a little, I just opted for a thicker grease/oil.

Thanks guys. Cork makes more sense than felt. I'll try again, and find a heavy lube.

Lynn,
I can give you some 140 weight oil I have got for the Morris to put in it. To replace my steering box seal I cut a strip of cork and wrapped it round the sector shaft with a diagonal cut for the joint and pushed it into the housing. It has a light oil in the box and hasn't leaked but I am still going to change it to 140. Terry.
