Attached is a close-up of the halftrack. No idea if it has any special role or if it's just a matter of creating more living space.

Darrell....I think you are right, those do look like the 12ft Assault Bridges. I seem to remember there is an IWM picture of a Staghound with those bridges passing a left behind early King Tiger in the Falaise gap.
