Not knowing too much about a T16, but this change in position of the reverse gear would be because the gearbox change is using a remote gearchange linkage system and this is why you get a different position in the gate system where your gear lever is.
So if the T16 uses a 4 speed Ford "Crash " gearbox, one from the CMP range should not be a problem, you would probably have to change out the rear mount or how ever that adapts to the diff, Cheers Andrew.
