			OK , ok , not our best idea for an Army truck . Here , i bought the matching trailer to my LSVW . It’s part of our military history and good people have served Canada well using this ill advised kit . Brought it home yesterday . Of course , bubba had improved the trailer lights and mixed the pigtail cords . Now everything is in proper military order , working and ready for a proper B/ O convoy. I made a demonstration to my son who is an engineering student and he was blown away . He had no clue of the use of the different lighting  control levers in the driver compartment .As for the pigtail ,   i told him . no sweat , 21 goes in 21 , 23 goes in 23 , 24 in 24 and so on . Why do civilians can’t get it i will never know . I had a NOS pigtail and plug just waiting for a trailer . 37 is cancelled and forget it . Why is there we don’t use 37 anyway ? Why is 90 ( ground ) not used on all trucks ? Anyway i grounded 90 and it works . What is your opinion on this trailer as a piece of kit ? I know , i know , the truck is underpowered to pull it . I experienced it today . Even empty it’s too much for the truck . But construction wise ? Does it tow well the G Wagon the other truck i saw it hitched behind ?

			The numbers from 90 to 95 are all ground wires in one location or another. For instance, 91 is ground for the headlights. 90 is ground for the trailer. Wire 37, if I remember correctly , is a power wire. I used to energize that if you had lighting in the trailer. You just had to keep in mind that all the power you draw is from a 14 gauge wire. I think they also used to use it for the convoy light circuit....that was the K terminal iirc.  
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
	
	Re the pintle hitch, I always just went hand tight and then line it up with the next cotter pin hole. The pintle must rotate. It should also be greased once in a while. The 750kg trailers are OK, the weak-point in my mind are the hydraulic brakes. Because the trailers sit for the majority of the year, the hydraulic systems do not get used enough.  |

			Agreed Ed, and even the lemons should be saved. The LSVW represents the product of political interference in the trials and tendering process. 			Got a box off a LSVW yesterday . It took about an hour to get the nuts off . They were rusted . Had to cut a bolt or two . Lifted it off the truck with a solid fork lift and voilà ! From what i have been reading off of Rob Love ´s CUCV thread it’s corners are rounded and that’s correct . Those are the boxes that were retained and refurbished by CORCAN . 			In the 70s I saw a trailer that the 12eRBC had set up as the CO (or OCs) accommodations in the field.  It was a 3/4t SMP trailer with no external distinctions, but there was a bed, flooring, a table and maybe some storage under the tarp.  The Sgt giving us the tour in the compound explained simply that if the CO gets too tired, he stops making good decisions for the rest of the unit. 			The existing 5/4T shelters, were known as the multi-purpose van bodies (MPVB) and put through a life extension program.   The refurbishment was carried out by Correctional Services Canada at three institutions across the country through sponsorship by the Life Cycle Materiel Manager.   This effort  enabled the MPVBs to remain serviceable well beyond the year 2000.   Prior to the installation of MPVBs onto the LSVW chassis, some additional work by the contractor was required.   The existing four point mounting system was replaced by six mounting points in order to mate to the LSVW chassis. 			As part of my documenting the LSVW coming in to service I managed to get at least one picture of a trailer load of van bodies fresh from refurb being delivered to DEW Engineering for eventual fitment to the vehicles. 
		
		
		
		
		
		
			I did go back later and get a guided tour through the DEW facility when the trailers were being built. Each one was personally viewed by Elvis, or at least a bust of him high on the shop wall. I have to dig them out some day and air them, task 4325-2 for this week.....

			The box was empty of any accessories when i got it . I started by painting the interior to cover the brown and beige used by a prior owner . I then added a table , a wall storage cabinet and 110 V  lighting provided by a workshop neon unit i found in a MLVW box of mine .
