Default Fords were popular

I can see six Ford utilities in this scene.Liverpool camp NSW , Dec. 1939

Shiny new 1940 GMC trucks. The sticker on the windscreen reads: E ??? ASC troops. Are these impressed or hired trucks ? .

Default Amb

Interesting detail of the Indian Pattern Chevrolet Ambulance.Despite being built in reasonable numbers, It's such a shame that almost none of these ambulances have survived intact. Left outside in the elements, the wood and fabric construction method wasn't long lasting. Hopefully, somebody souvenired the shiny brass plaque. At this point in time, STC were busy manufacturing the W.S. 109 Field radio.

Default Tilly

Looks like a Austin tilly (?) in Sydney NSW , 1947.

If it is a Tilly, it is likely to be one of the Tillies imported in 1945 for essential civilian users . Although a fair number of the Standard variant have survived, the other three brands are very scarce. Newspaper reports indicate that over 1000 tillies were imported during 1945.

From the same series of pics: A 1941 ex-army Plymouth utility with roof hatch. 1947.
