got the F15a home, and the twins are together. so now starts the disassembly. i took the dog house off and yes there's an engine in there. the more i pick thru the F15a the happier i am. the dash is in not to bad of shape, at least i can read the mileage, LOL. next up will be to take the cab off of the F60 and get the chassis and bed out of the port. once that's done i'll start to really get the F15a stripped down.

my 41 Ford needed some attention too. it's kinda like distant cousins seeing each other for the first time. and they all have flatheads in them.

now that i have the truck in the proper side of the shed. i have finally started the tear down of my f15a. started with the bumper and attachments. got the radiator out and safely stored for now. head lights are out. it seems like every time i work on it i find a new item i didn't know i was missing on the f60l. i'm hoping in the next couple of weeks to get the cab off and get the engine and transmission out. more pictures to follow.

getting the cab ready to come off. the oil filter has a nice decal still on it and it has a return line that goes to a banjo bolt at the fuel pump/oil fill location. while i'm pretty sure the cmp came with an oil filter i'm thinking this is not the original one. i also noticed my intake has 2 factory vacuum ports cast right in to it. one for the wipers and one for the distributor. never saw an intake with 2 ports before. up next getting the body mount bolts free.

i made a dolly to put the cab on. unfortunately the cab mount bolts were all rust frozen and no amount of heat was going to free them so i ended up cutting them off. but i was able to unbolt the observation hatch. the rubber gasket came off in one piece and is in fair shape. so i should be able to reuse it. next up, getting the tool box and bed off. so far so good. there are so many little details that were missing from my other cmp. i have 100 + pictures, at this point.

Broken bolts are sometimes a great time saver...... you probably would have had to replace it with a new one anyways and it is quicker......the precious oneslike wheel studs, rims studs are best treated to many heat cold cycles and forward and reverse on the impact........ if you over do it you will break studs and or have oval nuts........ don't ask how we know........
Get gasket material andmake new ones ...use the old one as a template..... your passenger will appreciate a dry ride in the rain....... decals for Ford are available from Mac Auto on the web and other repro places..... You are lucky they stillmake Ford master cylinders for the brakes....... Spaenour is a good source for modern old looking bolts and square nuts caged or free ranging...... watch the e brake bolts for the handle they have to be made due to the step size..... Enjoy........

i finally got the cab in the garage. it came apart pretty easy. i had to cut the strip of metal off the back of the cab. broke the rest of the bolts. and the tops off.

I posted this a while back on MLU and on a FB CMP page and is worth noting again. The cab mounting bolts are in the rare bolt category as shown in the attached. Contrary to popular belief they are not just engine mounting bolts. I added the Ford part numbers to the photo and as shown only one engine bolt, B 6047, is a generic Ford part (no asterisk). All the other ones are unique to Ford CMP's. One engine bolt is longer for the earth strap, and it too is unique to the CMP's. The height of the shoulders on the cab mounting bolts are different to those of the engine mounting bolts as is the height of the threaded parts. Sometimes there is no alternative for removing or they are so wasted away they snap anyway and would be unusable. Thats when a bit of ingenuity comes in to make a substitute. Cheers,
