I would like to find a pair of these to replace a missing one, and a badly damaged one on the Carriers No. 4 of my 52-Set. The full description is as follows:
Tinned copper braid, 5-1/4 inches long overall x 3/4-inch wide x 1/8-inch thick. Ends fitted with U-shaped cadmium plated steel end plates 7/8-inch long x 3/4-inch wide x 3/16-inch thick. Two 9/32-inch diameter mounting holes in end plates on 4-1/4 inch centres. I thought of replicating them but modern 3/4-inch wire braid is no longer the wide. Something a little less, and it is only 1/32-inch thick. David |

Just a thought, have you looked at braided automotive ground straps? My impression (not measured) is that (at least when they are pressed flat), they are over 1/32" thick.

Thanks, Geoff.
That is indeed the piece I am looking to locate. It is on Page 75 of the 1 July 1948 Issue 2 of the Illustrated Parts List for the 52-Set but I no longer have a working scanner. David |

I bet one of these jeep straps goes close. You can buy them individually. |

Hi Lang.
Interesting what they are making these days. One could probably built a complete MB/GPW from all new made parts these days right down to all the politically correct data plates. I have now found a set of straps for my 52-Set, so thanks to everyone for their help. It is always appreciated. David |
