Jordan, many of the late model CMP trucks came with the crab style dist. I'm sure an Army refit or maybe late production engine.
In my opinion, the crab stle dist is the way to go with a remote location for the coil atop the engine. The old style diver helmet distributors are a real pain, difficult to work on and have coils that, unless new, suffer from thermal breakdown very quickly. Even some "NOS" ones are usually junk as the epoxy that is used internally cracks after years of sitting around.
