Back in 2005 a company called Springfield Sporters in the States had the Barrel Nuts for $5.00, the Triggers as fitted to the rifles $9.00, the cables and triggers $10.00, and the Barrels for $10.00.

The outer covers on the cables I received had cracked with age.

Quite if they have any left and and what price, interested people would have to check.

Springfield Sporters has about 300 sets of 4" dischargers. I have bought several sets for myself and friends over the last 10 years. The trouble is getting the owner to root through his warehouse to sell them to you. He won't sell out of the USA.

I have tried to buy 50 sets and then flog them off you the community, but he is all or nothing.

As it stands, I can come down to his shop and buy all he has.. price to be determined at the time. all the bits for one discharger, minus the actual rifle action is $50.00. time 300 units, =$15,000 to buy the lot. I am not able to do that. I had hoped for about $2,500 for 50 sets. I could handle that.

So.... there it sits... 300 tubes, cables, barrel nuts, Bendix trigger cables, Wood mag area replacements with pinned magazine well fillers, triggers drilled for the cable, and the widget to defeat the safety.

What do we do about them???

Jim
In PA - about 2 hours drive from the store.

Oh, the seller is the son of the man who started Springfield Sporters.... He doesn't seem to have the passion for it that his Dad did. Poor interntet site. Phone rings off the hook, a "can't be bothered" attitude to customer service. Yet when I finally got him on the phone, and started talking to him, he recalled as a child getting to ride in a Bren Carrier and having a blast with it. He did warm up enough to discuss selling the lot to me so people would quite bothering him about them. Really, it is more a case that this isn't his passion.

I loaned out my original barrel nut to a couple guys who had them copied. The machine work amounted to around $180 a nut.

Back in the day, the discharger tubes used to get seized by Canada Customs as controlled goods. They are now exempt due to their age, so it would be great if these were to come to market.

I have seen complete or near complete sets sell here for from between $250 to $500. There is some pretty good room for markup over the $50 purchase price.
