The best officers I ever served under were junior NCOs in WW2 who had risen through the ranks since. I like to think some of their attitude rubbed off on me once I 'put up my pips'; somewhere between 'snotty', 'nasty', 'cheeky' and just plain 'mean'. And I know my young lads would have followed me to the ends of the earth had I asked them to. I'm damned proud of that.

i like to think of officers as cars i guess, you have a LOT of lemmons but once in a while after afew years you get a clasic. but not too often.

Dave,

If you'd like an American made engine hoist, check out and outfit called Air Technical Industries in Mentor Ohio. They have one called a VM 1000 for about $600. 1000 pound capacity, splayed legs and although it isn't foldable, it does break down for storage pretty easily. Not cheap like the Chinese made stuff but then again not cheap(crappy) like the Chinese made stuff. I've used a friends and then my own for a number of years and it hasn't failed. The heaviest thing I lifted was an AMC 6 cylinder with trans and transfer case attached and that posed no problems. Good Luck.
