ID plate. Am I right in thinking that this carrier was built by SAR Workshops?

The rear plate is missing as is the pioneer tool rack. Plate appears to have been torn off.

Most of the engine covers are still there. Often these are the first things that the farmers used to throw away.

Engine number is 2G49620F

This carrier is in very good nick for it's age and circumstances. There are a couple of small rust holes in the floor under the gunner's seat but that is about it.

Bob Moseley, I have sent you a PM with Gerry's details.

Cheers
Rod

It's slap bang in the middle of a large SAR batch.

What a wonderful find indeed.

Rod, please PM me details too for my Carrier database.

Default Check The Number

Hi Rod - thanks for all the information however you need to check the Hull Number. The plate reads #4389 whilst the painted number reads #4369. Either way it is a South Australian Carrier Model LP2A built in 1943 under Order Number MOS.170. Having Engine Number details is helpful but is it the original engine? Instrument panel shot would be nice.
Bob

Hi Bob, It looks like an 8 but it is a 6. Trust me!

The carrier didn't have an instrument panel. I did have one that I bought for $2 at a swap meet somewhere many years ago so I have happily donated it to Gerry. I'm a sucker for a worthy cause.

Cheers
Rod
