Came across 19 smoke discharger remote triggers attached to the short 41" bowden cable as well as the longer 62" cable. All in NOS condition.
The triggers all have proof marks stamped into each part. $40.00 gets you both cables plus the trigger + postage. |

HI Bruce
They look like bicycle hand brakes..... just for my own understanding.... they are intended to remotely pull the trigger and fire the cut off Ross rifle smoke discharger devices mounted outside the UC shell?? Am I right? Or were the Ross rifle device installed only on the C15TA and other armoured vehicles like the Lynx.....Otter.... Boob

Dischargers were either Canadian Ross's or British SMLE Enfields. The cables were for external mounts like Mk.1 carriers, Matildas and Crusaders. Triggers were used for internal mounts like Otters, Humbers and Fox. Picture is of a pair of trigger fired Ross's in the upper right side of a Fox turret.

Hi Bob,
On the mk I carrier the discharger was installed on that funny cast bracket on the outside of the hull behind the driver and the trigger was located on the right rear inside hull right below the antenna mount. |

....thanks for the educational opportunity.....
How was the cable attached to the trigger.... is the cable housing bolted through the trigger guard and attached to the trigger......? So like a bicycle brake handle.....pushing on the handle pull the cable which fires the smoke bomb...... and the blank .303 actually ignites/sets off the smoke charge.... Thanks Bruce. Boob
