Do you mean the steering column with the steering gear at the bottom?

And it will help to say whether it's the '375' or '400' type you're after.

Sounds like an easy question about steering gear but a review of the (rare) Ford Master Assembly parts book shows a wide range of steering gears used on Ford CMP's. I don't have hand-on experience with these steering gears but do have a spare NOS C111QF 3503 steering gear, apparently for Gun Tractor model. F60L trucks use 11QF-3503A, C29QF-3503 and C01QF-3503 depending on motor serial numbers etc.
Perhaps someone can explain just how interchangeable steering gears in actual practice. ...... Brian |

Thank you..those are all excellent questions..so far i havnt been able to find threads relating to the identification of the 375 vs. 400 gears.
So if anyone can point me in the right direction for an education that would be great.Maybe post some pics, numbers and where to find them and specs. Secondly, yes a complete column/gear assembly would be the ticket i think.unless they can be separated (again i'm lacking solid technical info here) In which case just the lower half would do fine. thank you all very much for your input. cheers Corey

The 375 box has the oil filler on an angle to the right of the top and the 400 type, which is a larger steering box has the filler right on top. These were introduced in 1944 and the vehicles also had the 6" steering ends.
