I was in the UK for work and I had planned to go and have a look at it. Alas, it was sold before I got to see it.

It is a 1943 MWC, rebuilt with an open cab and a replica 20-mm Polsten platform on which a generator was mounted.

Typical bitsa, but it is a running WW2 British truck.

BEDFORD MW

WORLD WAR TWO GENERATOR TRUCK

THIS VEHICLE HAS SPENT MANY YEARS IN A MUSEUM

I HAVE ONLY USED IT OCCASIONALLY FOR LOCAL SHOWS, (I WOULD THEREFORE RECOMMEND SLIGHT RECOMMISSIONING I.E. SERVICE, OIL CHANGE, GREASE UP, ETC.) HOWEVER IT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE.

ENGINE IS 3500cc PETROL

IT IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN A PROTOTYPE FOR USE AS AN ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN CARRIER, THEN CONVERTED TO A GENERATOR TRUCK. THE GENERATOR IS POWERED BY A WILLEYS JEEP ENGINE - THIS IS COMPLETE ALTHOUGH I HAVE NEVER USED IT OR INDEED TRIED TO START IT.

THE TRUCK RUNS A1, IS MOT EXEMPT AND TAX IS FREE DUE TO ITS AGE, CURRENT TAX DISC EXPIRES 28 FEBRUARY 2009.

AT PRESENT IT IS RUNNING FROM A REAR MOUNTED JERRY CAN AS THE TWIN PETROL TANKS TAKE SOME FILLING!!

RELIABLE, RARE WORLD WAR TWO TRUCK, MILITARY NUMBER KNOWN FROM MUSEUM OF ARMY TRANSPORT RECORDS, DECLARED MANUFACTURED IN 1943, BUT FROM A MILITARY TRANSPORT BOOK BELIEVED TO BE A 1938 PROTOTYPE (ALTHOUGH NOT GUARANTEED).

THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD WITH NO RESERVE, BUT IS ADVERTISED ELSEWHERE, SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE IT FROM THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME.

PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 5 FEEDBACK.

PAYMENT IS CASH ON COLLECTION, BUT COULD THE WINNING BIDDER PLEASE PAY A DEPOSIT OF £50 AT THE END OF THE AUCTION (SORRY BUT I HAVE HAD PREVIOUS NON-PAYERS)

HAPPY BIDDING!

IF YOU NEED ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Default bedford mw

Hi Hanno, Mike
I too was hoping to view this truck since it wasn't far from my place, however it sold quickly on the saturday morning, I understand from the new owner that it drives very well, but is well and truly made from bits, even to the point of the chassis being joined int he middle! Though I inderstand very well done. The generator engine is sized and is infact a Willys MC motor, this whole until is I beleive available for sale. Thie owner is now looking for a 15cwt body to replace the exsisting tray
regards
nick
