Hmmm, not exactly a shed free day as I decided to make the water bottle holders. There is 2 on each machine so I made a couple extra while I was at it. Also a pic of the location of them as well.

Hi everyone, now that xmas is over and we have all over eaten and probably drank, I managed to get a bit of time to do a bit more of the 2 pounder.

The pics are of the hinged wings on each side. The original ones I have are a bit too far gone. Also I took my family fishing and the pic is of me and my little boy andrew and his first fish. I know it's a bit off the topic but thats what proud fathers do. (good onya son!) Colin. |

Hi all, I have started the cannon base in the carrier which is made up of individual pieces and quite a few of them at that. Unfortunately the one with the carrier is too far gone but a good template. Whan they made these, they were very precise with their construction so it is a time consuming item to make but also critical as far as measurements are concerned. If it not correct it just won,t fit. In order to make sure it will I have tacked it together first then I will fit the unit then fully weld later.

Colin i have to ask this, and i am sorry if you have mentioned it before........ Are you a sheet metal fabricator by trade ? or is this just a great skill you have ?

I will no doubt be seeking advice from you when i start the mamoth task of replacing all the missing steel from the Fergus Carrier. Richie PS loving the fish !!! i bet he was really made up |

Hi Richard, I do work in the metal industry but not as a sheet metal worker, more steel fabrication.

The best advice I can give you for your steelwork is do one section at a time and complete it. If you try and do everything at once it can become a bit overwhelming. Colin. Last edited by colin jones; 01-01-09 at 03:54. |

Back again, fits very well and it is now fully welded. Time to start fabrication of the cannon mount. A bit more intricate and very precise part of this resto.

Howdy all, cannon base is moving along slowly but as I said it is fairly intricate but I'm getting there. I had to bolt it together to see if it lined up. There is still heaps still to do.

Hi Tony, I am making 2 at the same time and any forming dies I have made I will keep but most is cut by hand. One I will keep and the other I will sell after completion. One 2 pounder carrier will have a windsor that I will keep and the other will be stock but they will both have their guns. The other carrier is 6002 from luke drysdale.
