It's raining here so above freezing.
The hottest it has ever been here in the UK is 101 F, and the hottest I know about was one July at the RAF Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford one July when it was a baking 94. When I and a G/F were on a beach in Formentera, Balearic Islands of Spain, Med., it was once 108 F. That would be early 1980s...and since then it has snowed on the islands in winter! I gather that in Scotland it has been up to 15 C in January, and down to -27 C, the lowest British temp. |

So if we remove your wind chill factor and combine we'd wind up with something in the 20s, which is what we're expecting for the next few days from Sunday.

I just pray that I can drive my daughter 21 miles to work tomorow at 05.00 with projected ice on the roads.

It's easy to drive on icy roads. Just don't try to do any sudden movements that will start you skidding. I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles on ice or snow with no problems unless the snow gets too deep and you have to shovel your way through.

![]() There's something going for the acclimatizing benefits of travel by ship, rather than a jet plane that can have you across several timezones, opposite seasons and hanging upside-down in one quick trip! |
