WW2 Chevrolet c15a 1942 canadian army truck/jeep Item number: 270429693749

Description (revised) Seller assumes all responsibility for listing this item.

This is a 1942 c15a chevrolet c.m.p this is in good condition but just needs finishing off. all the brakes have been rebuilt new shoes on the front all new pipes and seals, refilled with silocone fluid. all rust from body was removed treated and painted no wielding has been done at all . it was on the road last year but due to other projects not retaxed this year,it is tax and mot exempt. it is believed to have started life as a water carrier ? the rear body is an original and has its plate still in situ as is all the cab plates, its birthday was last week . the engine is a 28 bedford engine not done a lot to it starts 1st time no matter how long it has been standing for. all the core plugs have been replaced bar 1, drives well for its size, a winch has also been added at some time through the transferbox this also works well !! think this is why it was used as a break down truck in alloa ? ,the original windows are in situ but there is a new set just never got a chance to fit them. we call it the beast but she does look good out and about. new projects force its qiuck sale any questions 07779165039

Question & Answer
Q: hello sir, is it possible to have another pictures? wich weight? the size for the transport tanks 21-Jul-09
A: i think they may be some on my webb site www.austertj398.co.uk gross is 4318 kgs i got a local company to bring down from scotland for me as a back load wheel base is about the same as a 101 landrover ?
Q: Hi have you got some pictures of inside the cab and rear body have you got the v5 for it also and is the winch in the chassic cheers chris 21-Jul-09
A: hi sorry i dont the truck is kept at the local museum and i wont be able to get there before the end of the auction. in side the cab is as it was both rifle butts holders are there seat covers are orig but a little shaby all the plates are intact in the cab on both the bulk head and engine cover the orig instument cluster is there along with switches starter button for the bedford engine is on the side the orig cheve starter leaver is there but disconected every thing works as it should. the winch is as it should have been as in service and my guess is that has been fitted as per factory standard if not at the factory its self ? with all leavers and brake and is controled through the vehicale gear box, some say that the c15a didnt have winches but talking to some of the canadian guys who used them with 665sqn they had them as brake down trucks with gs bodys as well as the c60s??????yes the v5 is correct like i said it was taxed last year and currently on scorn gross weight is 4318 kg that makes it mot exempt i have tryed to explain as best as i can

A C60L with Perkins diesel engine:
Chevrolet CMP 4X4 WW 2 Truck. Item number: 280205826673
Quote:
Chevrolet CMP 4x4 1942 ?. This Truck Needs Total Restoration ( But Not For The Faint Hearted ) or would be useful for spares . Also it is fitted with a Perkins P6 Diesel Engine. I Do Not Have The Original Petrol Engine.

There is a Old Type Log Book, (V5). Reg No. LPH 302, date of first registration is 1947 when it was sold in Auction after the war. The wheels fitted on the truck at the moment are not the correct ones, The Correct ones are on a pallet shown in the pictures.

As far as i can work out the truck is about 1942.

Please Phone 01264 323629 or mail me if you have any questions. Thanks John.

Please Note. This is Cash On Collection

From the MVT's Greensheet. It is listed as a 15-cwt, but it sure looks like an F8 8-cwt truck.

I agree....small wheels, but it's hard to see which body it has...almost looks like a 15cwt box or is it a 8cwt 2A1 box?..that would explain the side mounted fuel tanks.....but is that the shadow of a cab step?? Vey hard to see on such a small picture. Maybe an F15 fitted with smaller wheels?

cheers Hanno i will pass it along.... the wheels look very small for a 15 cwt....from a novice perspective it does appear as you say to be an 8cwt truck

Sad to say, it is time for someone else to have fun and take care of this lovely little truck.
Made in 1942 in canada this is the rarer 4x2 version 13 cab truck.
Powered by its correct flathead v8 engine and 4 speed crash box, no transfer case on this model.
I have fitted electronic ignition that does away with the contact breakers and condenser and never needs adjusting.
Also have fitted a solid state regulator to get rid of the unreliable coils.
It is currently taxed (free) and MOT exempt, and insurance works out at about £100 fully comp.
Tyres are 900x16 petlas on correct split rim wheels and will be good for many years to come.
I bought this vehicle because of it's correct original fittings, and I think this is one of it's strong points.
Bad(ish) points, This is an older restoration and as such is showing signs of age and use, the rear canvas has a tear in it and a few small holes but keeps the inside dry, I also think it is from a different vehicle as the lower straps do not line up correctly at the back, it still closes though.
The paint underneath is starting to flake in places, you may wish to repaint.
A new dip switch will be needed and of course the small oil leaks from old seals.
Non of the above stops me from using the truck and if it doesn't sell on here this week, we will be camping out at malpas beginning of September.
I could go on for ages, but if you are interested, drop me a line and we can talk some more, I would definatelly recommend that you view before bidding, we are located in beautifull North Wales.
The pictures shown are from when I purchased the truck from Jersey and has been re registered here so has a different reg number
Test drives are more than welcome, you will need fully comprehensive insurance for the truck and £ 7000 cash in my hand, I will pay for the petrol.
Any inspection is more than welcome, I will put the kettle on!
Cash or cheque is fine, but will have to clear in my account before release, no paypal unless you pay the fees!

Default F60l

Hi

Just saw this come up on HMVF as a link to E-Bay UK

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-CMP-T...895&rmvSB=true

Hope it finds a good new home either in its civi livery or to be restored to military. Either way it looks (from the pictures) like it might be a good one

Normal disclaimer no relation or connection to seller.

Cheers Phil

F60L LAAT classified ad on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Canad...-/201381693010

Quote:
My Canadian Ford (CMP) 4x4 believed to be 1944 as that is the date stamped on each tyre.
Got the original V8 Ford "Flathead" sidevalve petrol engine which is free and turns on the handle and the starter motor too.
Showing less than 6000 miles on the speedometer and no reson why this wouldn't be genuine as it came out of service to be used as a recovery truck near to me in Leeds (still signwritten up in the same livery)
The wagon is all there but the cab has suffered from being open to the elements at times of its life.
Under body winch which can winch from front or back.
All recovery gear is there along with towing dolly "ambulance" various chocks, winch slings, ropes and steaks to winch round corners etc.
A rare old wagon in need of restoration but a project well worth doing, not been messed about with other than painted up by its first civilian owners.
For any further information please don't hesitate to contact Karl on 07412151165
£3200 or nearest offer, no the other one on here isn't £4000, its a low guide price to get you interested as it is going to be in a vehicle auction soon and not for sale on Ebay. There was one for sale not as nice as what this would make for £25,000
Cash on collection, only a non refundable part payment will secure the vehicle, after being messed about so much I can no longer accept peoples word no more, sorry to those genuine ebayers out there.
viewing welcomed and highly recommended
Find another same as this with its original V8.
Thanks for looking.

Certainly, those early cell phones were as big as winch scotches!

For some reason these seem to be one of the most common surviving CMP model's in the UK. Bus Companies seem to have liked them but practically none of the QL version have survived. I once saw a Bedford RL Bofors Gun Tractor but quite if the body was original to the truck I do not know.

Surely LAAT's are indeed not rare, relatively speaking of course. I quite like them. In Holland the 3-tonner GS's seem to dominate.

Here's another survivor of the breed up for grabs in the UK: F60s LAAT 1944 For Restoration

Unfortunately I am in the process of cutting back my collection due to an increase in my work commitments.

also for sale is my 1941 Chevrolet 8CWT.

In running condition with its original engine (ministry of supply rebuild plate) all soild with no rot. The breaks are all reconditioned and it has 5 nos sand grip tyres. All lights and gauges work.

I was planning to rebuild the carburettor ( rebuild kit included) this winter and make the hoop irons ( tube and angles included) ready to have a canvas fitted ready to get on the road next year but unfortunately I just won't have the time.

I have plenty of spares and parts avaliable to finish off the truck including a complete spare engine and gearbox.

this is a nice little truck that fits in a normal garage and at £7950 a great investment which will only go up in value with improvement and time. Open to reasonable offers.
