I did about 850km in 2005 with our Convoy and on that trip I borrowed a set of 13.00X20's for my C15A. There was a great gap between 3rd and 4th gear that sometimes caused me grief so the 900 should be better. It was nice when we got back to the lower mainland and got going on the freeway. I actually had to pull out and pass some slower traffic. Probably hit 65 mph!

I'm not sure there all that many C60 series CMP around, maybe out East but not that many in Western Canada, have not seen to many on the forum restoring C60's, there are a few trucks around but I do not know of anyone with an extra tire and rim ? Check with Dave Pope, he may know if Mike or Ken Heiberg in Saskatchewan still have a few, they had a C60 Tipper for sale.
www.canadianwheel.com will make you an exact duplicate rim from a pattern. they are located in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

Not much to ask for....
Surely there must be ONE rim out there in Canada (Land of the CMP). Crikeys, where's your spirit Guys? I don't have a spare, other wise it would be on its way with $20,000 in postage. Where's your espirit-de-corps??? Help the man out. Ian

I don't worry to much about spare tires on my CMPs and here is where the jinx comes in, in the nearly 30 years of driving them I have never had a flat tire.
Two of my trucks have spares though if you look where they are carried I'm not sure I could get them down by myself. The HUP carries it's spare in the side rack (see http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=12207 post#11) and my C60S carries it's spare in side the radio box. For years I carried a spare tube in the truck along with the tire irons to change it until I notice that the tube in the box had dry rotted. As to finding them I'm sure some one in Canada has a spare one sitting around and that the real issue is the logistics of getting a 300+ lbs tire and rim moved. Good luck with your search. Cheers Phil

Morning all
![]() Actually I really dont know what the wheels are off of , Im assuming a 60CWT but not sure what trucks used 20" wheels other than them, so being you all know more than I do with CMP's feel free to chime in. I know I dont realy need a spare but would like to make a rack for the box and set one up there so need 1 rim, tire I can get unless it has one on it, freight, well nothing is imposable just a freight truck away or a friend who is coming west ! ![]() If this snow would ever melt maybe we could see whats laying on the ground, lets all do the rain and sun dance or we need to ship it down under for the lads there ![]() keep me in mind should one pop up somewhere. Also should a chev and ford wheel be the same ?

As Phil mentioned he has never had a chance to use his spare, I guess this is where I was coming from, in 30 years I have never changed a tire on my military trucks, a spare is nice to have but the chances of ever having to use it is pretty remote.

FYI
I am going to sell a set of 20" rims its 5 wheels this spring. Came off my 44CGT. A lot of work went into them tearing them down and cleaning them up. They were bead blasted, painted, 1 wheel needs 5 studs. Was going to keep for spares but will sell the whole works. Sorry not one offs, unless the buyer of 5 wants to sell you one out of this batch. One of Western Commands members is interested, if not I'll list them in Western Commands Buy n Sell. Walde Vancouver BC |

We were going to a show in Canberra (Australia's Capital City) in 2004 with a loaded 1 ton trailer on behind. On a down hill run, trying to make a bit of time, we blew out the right hand rear tyre. At that time we were doing about 60mph and going around a left-hand bend. Fortunately, my driver training and experience came to play and we stopped safely. The biggest problem then was how to lift the spare back onto its mount. As luck would have it, a passing truck driver stopped and helped lift the tyre to it mount. Not something that I want to experience again. Regards Rick

The wheel rim and components are all interchangable, but there are minor detail differences and manufacturing processes. See this thread.

Ill have to see what I have on mine ..... also does anyone know if the bolts which hold the 2 halves together are a special kinda bolt or just a grade 8 type reg bolt ? looks to be an item might be good idea to change with new stuff for the sake of safety, plus the red paint will stick better ! LOL thanks

I can only say for sure about the 16" rims, on the 16" rims there are welded in studs, not bolts, and they are an oddball thread by today's SAE standards (I think it's a BSW fine thread, whatever it was I couldn't find anyone who sold new hardware in a matching diameter and thread pitch). I suspect that if you have regular nuts and bolts holding the wheel halves together that it is a post-war "field" modification.

Terry,
Just spotted this thread. I've got one odd ball wheel and tire that may be what you are looking for. It is a combat rim but exactly what size I'm not sure. It looks to be about the same size as my M152 tires. I have to go out to the tire shed for another guy this eve. Will check and post back. Oh and I would LOVE it to go to a new home. JD Vic BC
