I would be happy to go through you, Stewart. If there's no hurry, I'll wait until the OMVA event and hand it over there? David |

David,
I might not be able to attend the OMVA show on 30May09, but we can work out getting it to me through somebody that is. I went to Canadian Tire and got a big plastic tub to put the tarps in - to keep the mice and moths from snacking on them. Stewart |

"to keep the mice and moths from snacking on them."..What do you put on them to keep YOU from snacking on them..?? I haven't seen you for a while so you'll have to bring Machine Gun Mary and make a trip up this summer.. For all I know you could have wasted away to 300 pounds...and you need some of Bob's steaks to get you back to your fighting weight... Fat Al... ![]()

Alex, I am still as slim as ever (compared to Mary). I hope to get that way soon, and will get together for a snack. Stewart |

David, I shall be driving from Ottawa to London on Sunday May 3, 2009. I can pick up the 8cwt tarp if you want - and will take it to Tillsonburg to get a price on having it copied. Otherwise, I know a fellow whose son is at the military college - and we can arrange something later. Stewart |

I have borrowed an original cover, with the C^ stencilled on the back cover, so it is most likely from a C15A from mid to late war, but it fits the C8AX canopy frame like a glove!
It is in fairly good shape, but has lost the front window, and has torn material in the left side window. They have what looks like a light weight canvas material, but have possibly been painted over with a dark stain or paint as they are quite stiff compared with the canvas of the cover. The front opening/window lines up exactly with the cab rear window opening for height, but is slightly narrower. Questions: 1. What did you decide the original windows were made of? 2. Did the front window have a flap or similar to allow communication with the cab occupants? 3. How were they tied on? The ropes on the side of this one are over 7 feet long, the front about 6 foot, and the back quite a lot shorter. 4. What do the rear flap clips look like? I will get a couple made locally for my brother's truck and mine. Incidentally there are a lot of similarities to the C8AX ambulance canopy, which again I was fortunate to find an original to measure and copy. I have been following this thread with interest for some time, but haven't seen the answers to these questions above. Hope you can help Stewart Rob |

David,
The fellow is our own Perry Kitson, of London, Ontario. Please give me a PM and I will get us connected to get this tarp rebuild underway. Stewart Quote:

Gents,
I have just returned from the canvas shoppe, with all of the olive canvas tarps, and both Carrier covers. They look (and smell) just like the sample Jon provided for us. Some supplier problems will slow down the final tan canvas parts, probably be 2 weeks or so. Those who have not paid me yet need to figure out how they want their covers shipped, and a payment method. Stewart |

Note how well the curved steel canopy frame matches the curve of the canvas.
The rope tie hooks on the C8AX deck don't match too well, too high compared with a C15A deck, so there is excess rope. Rob |
