Intriguing press trailer - standard or jury rig - what's the box things each side and writing on the ends?
Is that an Acetylene producer plant on the CMP? Hope members know the answers. ![]() Regards Alex -- M3 Grant, Val, Ferrets, WM20, CMPs |

The Vickers tank is a Mk.2A.
The truck is a captured Italian Lancia 3 RO N Mil. 6.5 ton 4x2. Without rear body. Ahh, Vanderveen you champion. The CMP is C60L cab 12 or 11. The CMP answer is a total guess based on the exhaust outlet. I'm probably wrong so I'll let the experts take over.

That carrier in the first pic isn't an LP1, it's a British made Carrier.

The boxes appear to be storage for lengths of Angle Iron. The ends of the boxes are open and the "Writing" is the ends of the sections of angle.

Hi,
that looks like a hydraulic press on the four-wheeled trailer. Dave |

The press looks exactly the same as our 50 ton Servex press. Twin pumps, one for high speed one for maximum pressure. Manually elevated table via two wire cables and final position controlled by 4 pins.

Thanks tony for correcting the carrier
is that press trailer a actual in service trailer or a locally made trailer by the troops using surplus parts ?

The Leopard with the elevating arm looks like it was intended to raise a radar antenna above the horizon or out of concealment.

The truck in the pic from REMLR with the land rover (I have a larger version of this from the photographers son who gave us the pics if you want it) is a leyland if I recall.

Ok, i'm told that these semi's are diamond Reos which were used in the 70's and 80's for long distance transport. and that 85 Transport Squadron based at Moorebank used them for many years.

Hi Richard,
Is that Landy in your pic SWB and FFR? Never seen an army shorty with the seat in the back. Rich

SWB yes, FFR, perhaps (looks like 25 or 77 set handles in the shadows). Oficially a FFR it is not, but it may have had one in place for use.
here is another view of that vehicle. looks like it has a platform in place to hold a radio temporarily. probably to aid in recovering broken down vehciles as this was a workshops vehicle ![]() As for the seats in the back, all 2a GS SWB land rovers had them fitted from the factory, and I think the Command Recon Series 2's did as well. here is an restored example http://www.remlr.com/sheds/ppsshed.html ![]() an example in service ![]() another in service in vietnam ![]() ![]() and a command recon, brand new, never used. ![]()
