Its a LVT4A Alligator!

You can pick it 1st by the 2 holes in the side use as foot holds and you can also see the opening for the sloped escape hatch on the upper top side of the hull.
Well should definatly be saved as there were only about 30 of them here in Australia.

Phil...

Here's an Alligator in Yellowknife but it's quite a bit different.

Now that's one I would love! Is it for sale? Looks like an LVT1. They were used by the Australian Army in WWII but I don't know of any still in the country. Very nice!

That must be disapointing news, for you? (How does the "cook" feel about it? I expected that you would have it going in about a month.

Lynn, my wife was more upset than the scrappie, so he won't be getting a xmas card. That would have been a great one month project. Just in time for corowa .
Arron, it "was" the wagga one and much closer for you than for me. I would have classed it as " BORDER SAVING "

The Yellowknife one is in a mining museum. It was used for hauling equipment to and from mining sites by Gordon Piro's dad. One side is kind of caved in from the blast they used to remove it from the ice on Great Slave Lake so they could retrieve it from the island it was on.
