As Tony said, it is a Chevrolet with Cab no. 12, but without the chassis it is nearly impossible if it was a 8-, 15-, 30- or 60-cwt truck. There are some differences in the inner wheel arches between 2 and 4 wheel drive trucks, so if you would have the chance to take some measurements we might be able to find out more.

Am very much interested to hear about the significance of this truck!

Due to the particular location of the wreck, I believe that it is a remnant of 'Operation Nicety' - one of the trucks which was chased by the Luftwaffe and shot up quite far south in the desert (the Germans just followed the traces...)
