Default Ballarat Blitz collection

We went and visited Rowan Gamble today and his Blitz collection. The Blitz's, all Chevs, are now up for individual sale. Rowan is a great chap to speak to in person and a Vietnam veteran.
Rowan can be contacted on (03) 53347570.

Here are some pics.
ID tags follow the pics of the trucks. The first two are partly restored.

This is the last of them to have an ID plate.
Also, on the nose cone, is the way the headlight mounted original? Both are like that. And what is the purpose of the round plate which covers a hole in the nose cone?

Default Ballarat Chevs

Thanks for sharing the pics Ryan, good to see the pics of the data plates.

Some info for you on the plates:

WO52 was originally a C60L with garage body

WO73 was a C15 Wireless Signals so it looks like it may have had a dash transplant.

WO83 was a C60L dropside tray.

That headlight detail does not look original and the circular disc would have been painted yellow with the bridge loading weight in tons number painted on in black.

Default Door curtain ?

I may well be wrong, but is the door curtain correct? Looks too square, and no hinged canvas part to clip to the windscreen. Never seen one for Cab 11 or 12, is it one of those?
Note, that there is only ONE for sale, not a pair.
Rich.

Default vent flap LH

Quote:
Army Truck WW2 CMP Ford Blitz- Cowl vent flap- LH side
This cowl vent flap for the left side of a Ford "Blitz". It is in very good condition thanks to several coats of paint applied to it over the years. I have often found these flaps rusted out along the edges where they seal on the cowl. This one is very sound throughout. Only minor repair that it requires is for the opening arm to be re-attached either by a spot weld or brazing.

G'day
The first time the C8AX went on ebay it was at the local truck wreckers it has now moved over to the wreckers mates place at Nanango about 100klm away. They are always shifting stuff around from their yards. That doesn't alter the fact that apart from the missing wheels it is a really nice truck.
Cheers Ken
