I've just uploaded a short trailer for the Year of the Jeep to Vimeo - let me know what you think. I'd like to be able to produce the DVD before the event next year... but it always takes longer than I'd hope.

Looks excellent Keith, as they all have been.

The way to do it is send an email to Dominique (at) imagecontrol dot com dot au (you know what to do with the dots and the at) and she'll send one. Payment is easiest done by credit card. Happy to take orders from anywhere - the only thing is it's in PAL format not NTSC but should play on your computer anywhere. Almost all DVD players I've seen here as well as plasma and LCDs are PAL/NTSC so that should not be an issue for people in Canada and the US, but check your equipment first.

The bit youve got master now is immerse yourself in the event with your own vehicles & shoot & interview at the same time. ![]() Speaking of, how about a bit on Vimeo of your driving in a Cab12??? ![]() Thats providing the filming wasnt too crappy. The bloke on the camera was a novice to say the least. ![]()

Whilst the excitement of this years event is just starting to drop off, I think now is the best time to start the ball rolling for next year. Although the theme is officially the Year of the Pommie Vehicle, I firmly believe that it will become affectionately known as the Year of the Auto Electrician. Lets be honest, how often do we celebrate Mr Lucas & his wiring wonders......
The levity aside gentlemen, whilst you are all still a bit pumped up from this years event, now is the time to start planning, prepping and saving up the sheckles to get your vehicle there for 2011. After having spoken to a few people over the Corowa weekend, here's what we may be seeing next year. In no specific order: Saladin; Saracen; CVR(W); CVR(T); Ferrets; Humber 1 tons; Land Rovers (lots of); Vickers Lt Tank; Austin Champs (again, lots of); M3 Stuart (not pommie I know); Carriers (again not pommie, give me a break); and a Matilda & Centurion if they can win the lottery to pay for the transport (so maybe not)...... You have to admit, that is a pretty good starting list. It would be awesome if they all got there too. Although I can fully understand if people or vehicles can't get there due to transport costs. Trucking a vehicle a thousand K round trip just for one show is something our friends from the motherland probably cannot grasp let alone appreciate. This would equate to transport costs alone almost matching the vehicles value in some instances. Anyway gentlemen, I shall see you there hopefully.

Lord Lucas, Prince of Darkness...
I think we may possibly also see something very exciting in the shape of a Guy Quad Ant too. How about a British Carrier, or a Lloyd? There are some British staff cars we've seen before, also BSA and other motorcycles. We've also seen a Daimler Dingo from South Australia, Bedfords, maybe an Austin or two... I'm sure others will be able to add more too. Quote:

One day I was asked to investigate what was wrong with a computer, this was back in the 286/386 days. The brand "Amstrad" was new to me and the female owner was very nervous about anything I did to it.
When the usual DOS commands wouldn't work with an operating system that claimed to be DOS 3.3, I said I did not understand what was going on. She said "oh, you've got to use Amstrad commands and pulled out a book an inch thick!!! After studying this for a while, I suggested she take the thing back to the bloke she had bought it off and get him to untangle it. When I got home, I phoned a bloke who was very into computers (pre-internet days) and asked him what the heck this Amstrad thing was supposed to be, the answer was "The Poms attempt at knocking off an IBM compatible". Within a year or 2 Amstrad had gone bust and the following joke did the rounds: Question: "Why did the Poms get out of making computers?" Answer: "Because they could never figure out a way to make them leak oil!" So, although they didn't leak oil, the electricity did get confused inside them, perhaps Lucas had a hand in their design? I own a Ferret - it leaks oil. Everything is as it should be.
