Thanks Again Craig.
This infomation will be added to each Trailers file folders.

I'm surprised that both trailers came from eastern Canada.
The One I trucked back here. But the other was bought here.

I had Scotty pull up the info on my M1010 Ambulance and my other 2 Iltises

But I was wondering if you could pull it as well so I have the actual copies of the Infomation from the EDR Veiwer for each vehicles file folder.

You have done so much already and I do not want to be pain in the arse
.
So there is no rush on these, but if you have a spare moment I would really appreciate it.
The CFR's are 77626 ,86091,87423

Matthew

If it helps out, I have 2R22 chalked on the front below the Dataplate, but, on back of the left bumper, I have the tactical symbol for 2/5 Mechanized Infantry, see attached photo.

This would most likely be the vehicles CFR number, and the last 5 digits are what the license plate would read - '42777'. This same number should be stamped onto the left front frame rail behind the bumper. I've looked for the info on the database using the "554277 and possibli an other 7", but there is no information to be had due to that CFR being re-used (on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado) since your truck left the service. Anyhow - nice trucks you've got there. Unfortunately the information was gone for my 1952 as well...Cheers,

Craig

The CFRs were stamped on the old dueces, I just can't remember where. Look on the front left frame rail just behind the bumper, that's where it was stamped on most of the SMPs of that era. Also, look on the dash, it was usually painted or decalled onto there. Your number should be something like 54-50123. It also used to be stencilled on the outside of the doors, if you want to try and carefully strip paint.

Unfortunately, that VIN doesn't apear on my CD but it would put it somewhere between 57112 and 57132.

Can you provide the info from the data plate next to the glovebox with regard to the model type and the serial number stamped forward on the right side frame rail. Any numbers written or 'stickered' in the cab? Exterior markings? This helps narrow the serial number type searches. I'm guessing you have a M-207 Chassis and cab. The soonest I can get to look up the info will be Tuesday hopefully. Cheers,

Craig

How about that, I guessed at 54-50123. I was only out on one of the digits; a 7 instead of the 0 that I used. Oh well, that should use up what little good luck I'll have this week.

Hi Everyone...I recently emailed the message below to Rob, but if others can help out in the 'investigation' process, that would be great!!

We picked up our new project. The restoration of an M38A1CDN3 Jeep Ambulance.

The CFR number is: 70-08858

The Serial Number(from the front passenger seat area) is: 7105014 100067 (underneath the plate it says 'Jeep Corporation Toledo Ohio).

If you are able to find out anything about the history of this Jeep's life prior to it's public sale, that would be amazing!!

A picture is attached...it's a little low in the back...need some springs to start with...and so it begins

Oh...just wanted to add that there is no rear seat, as there is an aluminum plate bolted into the body that extends from behind the front seats to a few feet past the rear of the jeep. The plate has aluminum rails along the top length to hold two stretchers in place. It came with 2 tarps that accommodate the entire body and extension.

Hello all -

It's been a while since I last was on here with any new info for those of you requesting it. A few weeks ago I changed job location and duties. In the process I have lost access to the database of info where the equipment information/history comes from. Actually I've lost all access to my work computer internet/intranet account in the changeover from my former workstation. So after 3 weeks - so far - I continue to wait impatiently for someone to contact someone else so somebody can figure out the problem and get it resolved. This someone or somebody needs a candle placed under their butt me thinks. As well, in this period the new job has proven to be filled with "legitimate" work and with that, not as much free time to search out retired CFR'd equipment. However, once I can get back at searching out all those info requests I will get the info copied and edited to post up on this thread. Those of you who pm'd requests for info will get the info as well, only I will post it in this thread. I do expect in the future it will be a slower response time for each request than it had been in the past, but as long as I can get the info I will get it out to you soonest as time permits. Cheers,

Craig

I will endevour to fill the size 18 Boots Craig has left in filling CFR requests for information. I will add that I am participating in Pre-Deployment Training, so my time behind the keyboard is somewhat curtailed.

Scotty, thank you for taking the time to search for and provide the details of the Jeep ambulance! The body is off the frame now, so the restoration continues

According to the maint records, this Amb spent its entire career in Toronto. I'd imagine with one of the Reserve Field Ambulance Units.

The last maintenance record shows in 1983 shows a mileage of 40,583. I'm not sure if its miles or KMs. One of my M151s maint records had the miles converted to KMs, so when I converted it back to miles, it was within a few hundred of what was showing on the odometer. The other was in miles, so don't be alarmed if this is higher than your odometer.

Default Looking for jeep history

Clive directed me to this forum so here is my request. Gentlemen, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dave and if anyone could give me some info on my new aquisition it would be greatly appreciated. It is an M38 A1 CDN 3 CFR- 70-08650. I just picked it up yesterday in the Sudbury area. It is mostly complete but in bad need of body work and new canvas. Can anyone provide me with the background of this vehicle.

Thanks

Default Very Long Shot - Any info on M100?

I just acquired an M100 CDN, and am hoping to find some information on its history. I know it's a long shot, but the CFR is 53-70193. No data plates, unfortunately.

Thanks.

Default M38A1 CDN2 I just bought at an estate sale...

Good evening,

I just bought an M38A1 CDN 2 at an estate sale, and am hoping to find something of its history. The S/N on the data plate is 96887, which I am assuming would make it 710596887. Delivery and inspection dates were both December 1967. According to ramtank.ca, that S/N was assigned CFR 67-07840.

I will likely post some photos in a different thread when I get it home tomorrow or Friday, but I think I struck a pot of gold with this one. It's been sitting in the guy's garage for 10+ years, but flashed-up almost immediately when some new gas was added to the tank. Engine has a re-build tag from 1978. It has very little rust, is still painted in the CF camoflage pattern, came with all of the canvas including the grille cover, and even a bright red arctic hard top! The lights even work. Only things missing that I can see are the winch, the shovel from under the hood, the wiper arms and the fire extinguisher.

If only my wife was as happy as I am!

Thanks for the Info. Is Holding Unit 0131 The Windsor Regt? I was thinking it came from Petawawa due to the CFR being close to the ones there but a plesent surprise.

I went back through the Maint Logs again, as they are a good way to track vehicle movements. All of the maint performed on your 38A1 was either at CFB London (Windsor Regt) or CFB Borden. IIRC, HU0131 is ASU London.

Hopefully the database holds some info on a couple of our local club members otherwise history-less vehicles:

1. M38 CFR 52-30688
2. M38 CFR 52-30323
3. M37 CFR 52-40764
4. M151A2CDN 74-09188

(That first M38 has really been around the block and had a really heavy duty Southwind heater installation and about three layers of tac signs.)

My own M151A2 (not the one in the list up there) was part of a group of PPCLI(3) vehicles that were disposed of in Victoria, but unfortunately any CFR markings are looooong gone. Was there a block of M151A2 CFRs that went to PPCLI(3) from which I could sort of adopt one? A lot of the PPCLI ones that were scrapped out here had this really ugly "piece of railroad track" abortion for a bumper done as a field mod at some point, and I was hoping one day to find a pic of one of those in service and narrow the range down that way. Who knew there'd be so few pics of the M151A2 in Canadian service?

Images of Canadian M151A2s are not that rare, I have quite a few that I took when they were in service.

Probably quite a few people have shots of them in their own photo albums, it's just that looking around the web you only see the same seven-eight shots of them. If scanning photos wasn't such a royal PITA I bet more people would put them up. If I can find the ones from the 3PPCLI disposal I'll nail them up on Flickr or something as I think those vehs still had their plates on.
