To give an update on part of this sale. I attended the sale in my Honda Jazz as i didn't anticipate buying anything but the Studebaker turned out to be a GMC CCKW although dismembered and in rough shape.
I bid on the wreck against a scrappy eventually dropping out as he was not hesitant at all. At that time the price for scrap was astronomical. I figured I would talk to him later which I did after the sale. He was quite approachable and I ended up with the components I was most interested in for a reasonable price. I rushed back home (about a forty minute drive) and returned with a mate, Subaru with tandem trailer, lifting gear and tools including a demolition saw. We worked in drissling rain for the rest of the day but we secured two 270 engines, gearbox and transfer case, all front end sheetmetal, hydrovac and sundry other parts. We even took the front of the chassis as the truck had been a winch model. Happy to say that one of the engines passed on to a friend proved to be in very good condition and is now in the CCKW he has under restoration. Some of the other parts have also been passed on and will live again so it was a good days work. David
