Have faith!

You are correct when junior securo-crats take themselves far too seriously. They are working on behalf of the nation to keep us safe, don't you know. But everyone works for someone. You need to do more than just lobby against the work of those people. You need to get facetime to show the influencial people that their workers are doing things wrong. They might not care about the substance of the decisions or the artifacts, but they will worry when there is a chance of being found in violation of some other law or being embarrassed in public.

A decade or so ago Canada had a similar tit-for-tat for a couple of containers of deactivated machine guns. The feds didn't like the standards to which the work had been done, and set about to tamper with the seizure to 'prove' the deactivation could be undone. The connivances and bad-intent was obvious, but sadly the owner/importer could not outlast them and he died mid-case. His lawyers relied heavily on our National Firearms Association's expert witnesses who a) could read English and b) find the logic errors in the regulations. He passed away a few years ago too. RIP Dave.

A decade ago one federal politician declared that the national gun control debate was over. Where is she now, and where is Canada's gun control question? She is out of politics, and a bill to abolish the long-gun registry has finally made it to third-reading.

last year one of those was dug up from my local WW2 bombing range...it still had the wheels on it...I emailed the local RAF base and was directed to the RAF Chief/Tech in charge...he hasnt replied to my messages..we went down to range to have a look see but it was locked away in a container...the local know-all suggested they would get a 5 figure sum for it...because of its rarity I offered £500.00 for it....we would have cleaned it and done some remidial work and then it could sit in the local defunct regimental barracks(museum)...however that was last year and we still havnt heard anything at all...we also understand from an old local that there is also a couple of tanks down there as well as old buses, trucks etc.....it was the foremost bombing and rocket range prior to the invasion of europe....some of the spent rockets apear to be fabricated from concrete afixed to solid shot 75mm heads...we are told the RAF bomb disposal tem will be there for at least another 50 years...that gives you some idea of the ordanance still there...best regards malcolm

Malcom shame i am not there ranges are a good source of stuff and UK did get them in WW2 and obsoleted them before wars end so high probablility they used them as targets . My Dad was in Warwicks and showed me on a trip back to uk where they buried a German Tank on a range in the midlands they used to shoot at
if you need RAAF help i do have a contact there if you email will give you his details as he may be able to free it up for you or me :-)

Rod I will look out the unit email address for you...they should be able to direct you to the chief/tech i/c the range clearance.....local yokels working for the chief/tec seem to think its worth a fortune....they will have a long wait...thought about complicating matters further by contacting my local MP and asking him to intervene...but hey if you want it...good luck!cheers malcolm

My mate there is a collector and museum director in RAF so may have some pull that may help us and no good deed goes unrewarded. ranges are a good source of parts but real issue getting acces to them here
