Approaching Legions
Maybe rather than limit your self to having your vehicle in a Remembrance Day parade you could offer to have your vehicle present at Legion events. A bit late now perhaps, but the Poppy Drive is the week prior to November 11.
The Legion might appreciate a vehicle at a certain location to increase public attention to help boost poppy sales.
I also have volunteered vehcles to my Branch for the November 11 parades and it isn't a high priority. Ask the Legion if they will have an entry or Colour party in a local parade at another time and offer to put your vehicle with them. Then offer to give the colour party a ride back to the Branch after the parade. That is a away to start the relatioship on their terms and it might lead to more times they would want your help.
As to frail veterans, think about it, the war has been over for 65 years. That makes the average WW2 vet 85 years old! We loaded WW2 veterans into military vehicles for Warriors Day Parade at London Fair and we took our time and were very carefull.
